Grip the key of innovation to unlock a new world for "Made in China".

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, April 13 (Reporters Zhang Xinxin, He Yuxin) Faced with fierce competition and the pressure of transformation, holding tightly to the key of innovation and starting new practices of supply-side structural reform, "Made in China" has ushered in a new realm of development and gained new momentum for transformation and upgrading.

New technologies and new achievements are accelerating transformation, new models and new business formats are emerging continuously, added value and discourse power are constantly improving, and innovation is strongly leading the "Made in China" ship to sail forward.

Innovation, creating a new business card for "Made in China"

On April 3 local time, in Boston City Hall Plaza, a subway train of the Boston Orange Line manufactured by CRRC of China attracted a large crowd. This is the first time "CRRC manufacturing" has met its future passengers.

From leveling the bogies, assembling gear screws, to breakthroughs in cold and high-temperature resistance technology and system integration control, the innovation of a train is not limited to thousands. Liu Hualong, chairman of CRRC, said that China's rail transit has achieved overall exports of the industrial chain such as traction and ventilation, becoming a "guest of honor" in the international market with excellent quality and technology. In the past six months, CRRC has successively received orders for 184 subway trains in Boston and Los Angeles.

Represented by rail transit, the new era of "Made in China" is gradually transforming from low value-added processing and manufacturing to a focus on high technology, high quality, and high standards of "Chinese creation." Shenzhou spacecraft, Tianhe computer, Beidou navigation... each of these prominent Chinese brands is a testament to the independent innovation of "Made in China" and a shining "Chinese business card" in the international market.

It is worth mentioning that in recent years, innovation in "Made in China" has continued to accelerate in cutting-edge fields, with a number of achievements filling domestic gaps and occupying a place internationally, potentially leading new industries and exploring emerging markets.

Huawei has launched the world's first high-temperature long-life graphene-based lithium-ion battery, which can increase the upper limit of the operating temperature of lithium-ion batteries by 10°C and double their lifespan; the domestically produced CPU "Sunway TaihuLight" has become the world's first supercomputer with a computing speed exceeding one quintillion calculations per second; new technology products such as quantum dot TVs and OLED TVs are emerging rapidly...

According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China has made significant progress in cutting-edge research in several fields such as transparent display technology, lithium-ion batteries, and superconducting materials, leading internationally.

"Relying on technology-driven, China's manufacturing industry is striving to seize opportunities and explore a broader development path, bringing about tremendous changes," said Miao Wei, Minister of Industry and Information Technology.

Innovation, injecting new momentum for transformation and upgrading

Through innovations in product design, technical solutions, and material applications, GoerTek Inc. and its partners have successfully designed a virtual reality headset with a better wearing experience, which is expected to be launched by the end of this year.

As a manufacturing enterprise that has grown locally in China, GoerTek has become an important supplier to internationally renowned companies such as Samsung and Sony over the past decade, relying on its manufacturing advantages in micro-acoustic modules and sensors.

"Although being a supplier is also good, the development has never been completely in our own hands," said Ji Yong, vice president of GoerTek, who stated that GoerTek will deepen its efforts in virtual reality and artificial intelligence, accelerating transformation and innovation.

With the gradual exhaustion of dividends such as "latecomer advantages" and "comparative advantages," how to find new momentum; with overcapacity and high costs, how to achieve efficiency and value enhancement; with unbalanced development between regions and industries, how to coordinate development... the problems faced by "Made in China" need to be solved through innovation.

"To achieve transformation, the key lies in the existing stock. We need to introduce innovative thinking into every link of various industries to effectively promote quality and efficiency improvements," said Li Beiguang, deputy director of the Planning Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

What can be done in 2 seconds? At Qingdao Red Collar Group, using the world's advanced 3D body measurement instrument, this "blink of an eye" can obtain 22 data points from 19 parts of the customer, automatically completing clothing measurement. By reshaping the industrial production process with internet thinking, Red Collar not only solved the timeliness of measurement but also achieved personalized production on the assembly line, expanding new space.

"Trying internet industry was initially to solve inventory issues, but after a few years, we found that this is a methodology that subverts traditional industrial logic," said Zhang Daili, chairman of Red Collar Group.

The changes are not limited to Red Collar. Since the introduction of "Made in China 2025," the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has successively identified 109 intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration projects, which have increased production efficiency by an average of over 30% and reduced operating costs by an average of over 20%.

In addition to adjusting the internal structure of the industry, the transfer of industries between regions has also become more balanced and targeted.

Drones in Shenzhen, "Power Valley" in Zhuzhou, "Optics Valley" in Wuhan, robots in Shenyang... In recent years, some regions in China have actively absorbed and transplanted high-end production factors and advanced sharing technologies based on their existing industrial foundation, achieving differentiated development between regions and outlining a "new map" of manufacturing.

"Innovation must also apply the right resources to the right places to achieve precise efforts. This is also the essence of supply-side structural reform," Miao Wei said. The emergence of the new manufacturing map not only drives local industrial transformation and upgrading but also enhances confidence in achieving "overtaking on a bend."

Innovation, keeping vitality through reform

Standing at the forefront of a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, "Made in China" needs to rely on major innovations more than ever to gain the initiative. This is both an opportunity that cannot be missed and a challenge that cannot be lost. Igniting the engine of innovation with reform, eliminating institutional and mechanism barriers that hinder innovation, and releasing more development space is an urgent task.

On the one hand, we must continue to promote the transformation of government functions, eliminate "roadblocks," and open up broad avenues for innovation and entrepreneurship.

From resolutely promoting streamlining administration and delegating power, to vigorously promoting mass entrepreneurship and innovation, and then to speeding up and reducing costs in the telecommunications sector, government departments have further removed the accumulated problems of institutional mechanisms, stimulating market vitality and development potential. Last year, an average of 15,100 new registered enterprises were established daily across the country, marking a peak since the reform of the commercial system.

However, "as we move forward, others are also making progress." Reforms cannot stop; we must continue to push deeper, stimulating the vitality of every enterprise and every individual, winning time and space for development.

On the other hand, we must also create a more suitable and tolerant institutional environment, lay down a "fast track," break the "glass wall" of cost transformation, and eliminate institutional barriers to talent flow, allowing innovation factors to fully activate.

Miao Wei said that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is promoting the construction of manufacturing innovation centers, building innovation platforms in some important fields, integrating collaborative systems for tackling key problems, and promoting more scientific research achievements to be transformed into productive forces. An innovation center for power batteries has been established, and about 15 national-level innovation centers will be established by 2020.

With innovative achievements, industrialization also faces challenges. This requires a sound fault tolerance mechanism for innovation. In fields such as major equipment and new materials, our country has also introduced pilot insurance compensation mechanisms for market applications, allowing users to dare to try and be willing to experiment with new technologies and new equipment. The next step will be to continuously improve policies and expand usage effects.

It can be seen that measures related to innovation-driven development are becoming increasingly refined, and a good environment in which the whole society values and desires innovation is taking shape. "In the future, we will strengthen the integration of science and technology with the economy, and through continuous reform, promote 'Made in China' to a new level," said Miao Wei.
